Some messages in mailboxes are not archived
I have a strange issue. I have a few mailboxes I'm starting to archive - around 5 right now, preparing to do more in the near future. We are archiving only messages in the Inbox, Sent Items, and User Defined folders, and only items older than 90 days. Then we come back and shortcut only attachments for these archived files. I run the archive job for these mailboxes and it looks like it processes the entire mailbox - I have my "Archiving" line items for each message that's being copied into the system (for the first few mailboxes I am running with the detail logging turned on).
Then I run the shortcut job. There is quite a bit of data that is skipped because it does not exist in the archive - however, the messages have attachments, and are older than 90 days.
Searching on the subject of the skipped items in the EX search tool does not find them, so they don't seem to be in the archive - which is why the shortcut job is not picking them up.
When I look at the Archive log, it appears to look at a folder - such as Inbox - and it will run to a certain date (around 4/20/08), then it will move on to the next folder without processing anything after that date. When I look at the Shortcut job, anything in the Inbox after 4/20/2008 is processed, but skipped because the file does not exist in the archive.
Additional background: These mailboxes were initially processed when we were testing the system. They were archived with 0 retention set, and the archived messages were deleted before coming back with the true "production" retention period. I'm not sure if this would cause the issue, but I am mentioning it just in case.
We're running EmailXtender version 4.81.655, Exchange 2003 SP2, Office 2007 SP1. Any ideas on what I can look at or try? I'm at a loss!

When EmailXtract processes messages it itags them with MAPI properties which can be seen using different MAPI tools.
Because you already archive dmessages in past fo rtesting and then disposed off volumes now EMialXtract is still reading those properties tagged to the messages. There are reg keys in place to re-archive these messages but I would say engaging support to get those keys and get your environment evauated. These are not standard keys and needs precaution while using is, support will come handy there.
I have seen a few people sharing those registry keys in this forum but if you do any damage to your environment support might not be able to help.
Thanks,
Raj
