Sizing Tool
Hi,
I have the sizing tool for EX 4.7. The installation guide for 4.8.1 calculates only container partition and instalation partition. We need to calculate index, MSMQ & SQL partition as well.
This is for Windows 2008, EX 2007. Please refer me to a sizing tool that helps in this.

I cannot refer to a specific tool. My calculateions are based on an EX training I did many years ago and the experience gained thereafter.
- MSMQ has an inherent maximum size of 2GB. I always put it on a d-drive, as this partition can be higher on disk I/O. - This is normally only a few MB large.
- Index should be calculated higher. In my EX admin training (way back), I was told to take 20% of the total size of the archive. - In a large environment of mine (I just checked this again for you), it's about 26% of the size of the archive. I have always calculated with 30%.
- SQL partition is roughly calculated as 1GB increase per 1.000.000 archived messages, I was told in my training. - I also checked this and it's nowhere near. I have an increase of 3GB on SQL per 1.000.000 messages archived (emailXtender and exAudit combined). This is about 3-4% (SQL dbs) to the size of the archive.
I hope this info helps. Kind regards,
Jochen.
