Shortcut Resolution from Outlook when Client Not in Domain of EX Server

Has anyone ever run into a scenario where remote clients (laptop users) are not joined to a domain and would like to have shortcut resolution? From these remote clients I can install the EX Search Plugin, do a query, and view an archived email. However, I cannot get shortcut resolution to work. All other clients that are joined to the domain can resolve the shortcuts with no problem at all.

Thanks for your help.

Hi There,

For shortcut resolution to work your client should be able to query AD which might not be possibein your case., There is a support note RPC over HTTP/HTTPS please search for that support not and see if making reg key change on the client machine helps you by any chance.

Thanks,
Raj

When you say that the client has to query AD, how can I test this out?

Thanks in advance.

EMC Support was able to solve this for me with a registry entry.

Do you happen to remember what that registry change was? If not, then I can open a service request with EMC. But it's positive to hear that there maybe a solution.

Hi,

Its the same key for which I have suggested earlier in the post. Search on powerlink for 'RPC over HTTP' solution.

We got the resolution for this fix:

RESOLUTION:
=============

Create the following registry key on the client:
HKLM\Software\EMC\EXShortcutAddin\EXList

Add a string value under EXlist for the EX server on the network:
EXURL1

The value should be the following:
http:// /EXShortcut/query.asp
No Events found!
