Search plug-in and Outlook with POP3 account

hello,

have anybody tried to use EmailXtender search plug-in with Outlook over POP3 account? is it possible at all? i have seen from search plug-in properties that there are options for pop3 and imap4...

i have customer where some users are using Outlook to connect to Lotus Domino server over pop3. when launching search plug-in they get error "failed to initialize MAPI" and then "unable to initialize version environment". should it work at all?
