Replacement for Source One

SourceOne is EOL in December 2022 if I am not mistaken. What is the potential replacement software for this product and how do we migrate if we are interested?

Hi - we have a solution that securely and rapidly migrates SourceOne legacy data to targets like M365. If interested, send me a note - thanks!< Private Email id removed.TOS73>

Do you have a source for the EOL date?

Thanks

Who told you about the EOL date.  Normally Dell gives 3 years to get off not one year.

Hi. I found the information on this page: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000185734/end-of-life-documents?lang=en

I downloaded the spreadsheet for software (middle link) and found this entry. I am assuming EOSS is end of service, but I could be wrong.

Product Software Release RTS Date EOSS Date
SourceOne Email Management 7.2 SP9 3-Feb-20 31-Dec-22

There are always options if the time is right.  7.2SP12 just released, so there is time no matter what happens.   And yes 7.2SP9 is End of Support Service (EOSS) 12/31/2022, but SP12 will be well out from that.

Still not seeing an official statement, but in meetings where this came up, December 2024 has been given as the tombstone date of 7.2SP12 for service and for end of any sales.

New to the industry and hearing lots of rumours.  What are companies electing to do and who are they using to Migrate?

There are a lot of options to migrate to, we have a lot of customers that are going to MS365 EXO from S1, some looking at other cloud archives, some looking at other premise archives.  It really is to the needs of the customer and the requirements/regulations that have to be adhered to as to what they need to do.  It is a lot to consider, so there is not cookie cutter answer.  I work for a company that develops an archive solution, so I have some bias, but I hate to see S1 leaving the market.

As to what to use to migrate, depends on the archive source, the migration target, the amount of data, how many users, and what level of change your organization is willing to tolerate.  There are a number of tools on the market and the various vendors take different approaches to how they do the migration and what services or resellers may be involved in the migration project.  Main thing to keep in mind is the amount of archive data you have and where you want to go, that will determine the level of effort and level of success.

I can help you further, but this is not the forum for that type of discussion.

How could I contact you outside this forum?

Have you been able to find a partner to help with your migration? If not, please let me know. This is something we do very well. Happy to get together

Were you able to find a good replacement software? Would love to be a resource for you. We have been very successful with these migrations

I work for a developer of an archive solution, one of the originals and we do 100+ migrations a year right now, so appreciate it, but I think I am set.

I was responding to Jlrizarr. Didn't mean to question your expertise. I have a teammate with 20 plus years' experience in this type of migration. Just trying to be a resource if needed.

We do several archives a year as well

Anyone else hearing that SourceOne customers are being moved to Smarsh?   If true how are Smarsh migrating the data?

WE have been migrating to many other platforms using both inboard as well as 3rd party solutions.  To other on-premise archives as well as SaaS/Cloud, and to MS365.  As to Smarsh, know that Dell has been saying they are their go to provider, as to how they get there, most of this is done pulling out to PST then upload to Smarsh (as well as for other cloud based archives) via electronic upload or disk shipping.  Amount of time to migrate will depend on volume and method to migrate.  The specific tools Smarsh themselves use, you would need to talk to Smarsh.
