problem to use shortcutaddin in outlook 2007

I've installed in an outlook 2007 sp1 shortcutaddin emx 4.81.1043, when I try to open any message shortcutted with EMX i've the error message initializing mapi session object failed.

The same problem if i use search plugin with this outlook 2007 client, error message:

unable to initialize version environment.

If i remove any plugin all works fine , only for email without shortcut ofcourse

The problem it's only with this pc , is there anybody that have any idea to solve this issue? many thanks

Hi Joe,

on this machine is there Exchange Tools or Lotus Notes installed ?

If it has exchange tools then some time MAPI32.dll from exchange tools breaks shortcut resolution functionality, recreating MAPI32.dll again using FIXMAPI command line from windows.

There is a documented procedure under support notes section of powerlink.emc.com please have a look at it.

Thanks,
Rajan

Here it is from the release notes (copy+paste :) )

Exchange: Administrators cannot retrieve shortcut messages in Outlook 2007

Problem : Exchange administrators cannot use their administrative workstations to read shortcut mail. The MAPI button is unavailable in the Search Plug-in¿s Configuration Options.

Cause There are two versions of mapi32.dll on the workstation as a result of installing Outlook 2007 and Exchange administration tools (System Manager or Management Tools). This type of installation is incompatible with the Search Plug-In.

You cannot retrieve shortcut messages from Outlook 2007 if Exchange administration tools are installed on the same computer. Exchange administration tools use a different MAPI client.

Workaround On the Exchange administrator¿s workstation, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Keep administration tools
16. Close Outlook.
EMC EmailXtender® Version 4.81 Patch 1043 Release Notes 31
Patch 655
17. Close the Exchange administration tools.
18. In the Windows\System32 directory:
a. Rename mapi32.dll to mapi32.dll.old.
b. Run fixmapi.exe.

Method 2: Remove Exchange administration tools
1. Uninstall Exchange administration tools on the administration
workstation.
2. Run fixmapi.exe from tthe Windows\System32 directory.
