Outlook Admin search gives zero results

We had a Disc failure in our Archive Array. The Disc was replaced and rebuilt but now Outlook 2003 Admin search finds zero results.

i've set up my own Windows Profile on the eMailXtender with Admin rights and the result are the same.

if I setup an Outlook user profile and use the User search there are results.

I've also tried an Application  repair on eMailXtender but that was not successful either. The only "strange" OTG event log is of the same person over 8000 entries "Exception in Inserting Msg into Child Queue".

Any ideas as we need to retrieve some urgent emails.

Thank you.

Greetings,

If users can see results then admins should get those too. If you need hits urgently you may want to talk to emc support. You can use support.emc.com site to open service request.

Dear Mr Katwal.

Thank you for your reply.

I would like to lodge a Service Request however the Requirement is to register the Product.

The Extender was installed by a 3rd Party Company in 2007, needless to say any SLAs that were in place is long since expired.

My issue is I cannot find the Product ID. It requires a Dongle Serial number as we'll. A Dongle?

I'm sure the life span of the Product EmailXtender 4.81.409 has come to its end of life.

Unfortunately it is true, Admin Search gets zero hits!

Is there a way I can lodge a request without registering the Product ID?

If the guys can please give me a hint as to where to start troubleshooting it will be much appreciated.

Hi Gary,

Admin search is expected to work for AD users that are part of EXAdmin local group on EmailXtender server. When you launch search plug-in from outlook, it will use the NT account you are logged in with to validate if EX server has that user as part of the ExAdmin group and then only you be able to run admin searches. In regard to error about "Exception in Inserting Msg into Child Queue", that appears to be more like MSMQ error message. EX leveraged MSMQ private queues to keep track of data processing. If you are still ingesting data into EX, MSMQ needs to work properly. Even when you run Admin Searches, same applies because audit data goes gets parsed through MSMQ. The disk that had issue, what was it hosting ? If you can provide some details around that may help us.

Indeed the version you have is quite old and end of support life. Since 2009 EMC has published EMC SourceOne archiving platform. You may want to talk to an EMC partner or EMC account manager (if there is one for your site) to discuss your options. The version if EX you have will need to be upgraded to work with SourceOne. Account teams can also help you to have your licenses converted from EX to SourceOne. They may be able to get approvals to have an SR raised for EX against your site while they work with you on the SourceOne side. There is also options available to migrate data from EX to SourceOne so that you can get rid of Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 server(s) for EX.

Thanks,

Rajan
