No ExAS bound servers found. (0x86042C00) (-2046546944)

Hi there,

I'm in the process of implementing Source One, but I am encountering a problem.

I have installed in a lab every component of Source One by following the Installation Guide, yet when I create an activity "FileArchive-Historical" I get the following logs :

Can someone help me understand what is "ExAS" and for what reason it fails to archive even though in the console it says that everything worked smoothly ?

Thanks in advance for your help

Hello itmayhelp,

If this is a new installation, then more than likely the Archive role is not enabled for the Archive server(s) in the Sourceone Console.

To enable the Archive role on the Native Archive server.

1. Expand the Native Archive Node which is the last node in the ES1 Console.

2. Click on the Server configuration node to highlight it.

3. Click on server in the Server Configuration column and click Action > Properties.

4. In the Archive tab place a check mark in the Enabled box and enter the path to the message center in the Message Center Location field by using the browse button.

5. Click Ok to save changes.

If it continues to be a problem, ensure that the Archive service is running and that there are no firewalls preventing connections to the archive server from the worker server.

I hope this helps!

Hello Isi,

Thanks for your reply, but I have already done all that, yet I am still getting the same error message.

I have even try to run the activity on the same server having all the services (Master/Console/Web/Worker etc...) just to test, but even that result in failure with the same error log.

Thanks for your help,

Hello itmayhelp,

Not a problem, sorry that you are still experiencing the error. If you have enabled archiving on the native archive server in the console, ensured the services are running, and checked the firewall settings according to the documentation and I'll copy and paste below (this is for Windows 2008 machines). I would recommend opening a support ticket and have one of our support engineers troubleshoot the issue.

Firewall settings:

1. Create firewall inbound rules to allow connections to the following SourceOne

services:

     SourceOne Archive (ExAsArchive.exe)

     SourceOne Query (ExAsQuery.exe)

Refer to the following Microsoft article for details on configuring firewall

rules using Windows Firewall with Advanced Security in Windows Server

2008: http://technet.microsoft.com/library/1378db20-de0d-476c-bc62-

d6a0fda83984.aspx

2. Configure an inbound ICMP rule for ICMPv4.

Refer to the following Microsoft article:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc972926(v=WS.10).aspx

3. Enable the firewall exception rule for Enable COM+ Network Access (DCOMIn).

Refer to the following Microsoft article:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc774200(v=WS.10).aspx

Thanks, Isi
