Message body not always displayed

Hello,

While testing EmailXtender, I ran into some strange issues.

After having shortcutted a mailbox, the message body isn't displayed in the preview pane of my Outlook client.
However when selecting the same message using OWA, the message body is being displayed.

How can I resolve this?

I am using:
EmailXtender 4.81.409 SP1
Outlook 2002 SP3
Exchange 2003

Kind regards,

Duncan

I did not work with OWA and EX yet, but I you shorcut a message with option cheked "Remove message body" you will not see it in preview pane, only a standard message "This mail was archive and shortcutted,... ". You have to open it, to view.

Thanks Krisztian,

The option remove message body isn't checked, so the message body should be visible (and is visible while using OWA).

Because I am replacing someone in our project, my test PC had been reinstalled, and I had only installed the client software. After contacting my predecessor, he told me that the solution lies in adding a key in the registry:

- Under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\ create a key called Custom Forms.
- Create a key called Preview under Custom Forms
- Create a string value called IPM.NOTE.ExShortcut and change the value to IPM.NOTE
- Create a string value called IPM.NOTE.ExShortcut.owa and change the value to IPM.NOTE

You can read more about it here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331788

Kind regards,

Duncan

I am having this problem on one user so far. We're running:

EX 4.81.409
Exchange 2003 SP2
Outlook 2003 SP2

Your solution and the hotfix in the MS KB article refers to Outlook 2002 (XP). It may be the same fix but exactly what does the reg key do? Does it change the archived/shortcutted messages to use the original Outlook form?

Thanks for any assistance.

I don't know if you need this key for Outlook 2003. If shortcuts are properly displayed in the preview pane, you don't need it. Otherwise you can probably put the key in ...Outlook\11.0\...

The key shows messages with message class IPM.NOTE.EXSHORTCUT or IPM.NOTE.EXSHORTCUT.OWA as IPM.NOTE, so that they can be viewed in the preview pane.

Kind regards,
