Is the historical Archiving reduce the mail box size

Hi,

We have implemented ES1 at customer site, and we run the historical archive activity for chosen address, and the activity completed successfully, and we can search the archived emails using ES1 search, but we notice that the mailbox size still the same, but when we run the shortcut activity job the mailbox size being reduced. So we need to know is there a way to reduce the mailbox size without shortcutting.

Thanks

Hi Mahmoud,

What you defined is how Archiving solutions work. If you want to bring mailbox size down then emails has to be shortcutted on Exchange Server. Without creating shortcuts the only other way is to moved data out of the mailbox to PST files.

Is there any concerns due to which you do you want to shortcut the mailboxes ?

Thanks,

Rajan
