Installation Question - Storage Requirements

I have searched the site and forums for information and have come up empty handed. I'm looking for a formula for determining our storage requirements for our impelementation of EmailXtender. Can anyone point me in the right direction or give me a rule of thumb to go by?

We have approximately 250 mailboxes on exchange 2003. We are looking to acheive 7 years of archival of sent and received emails.

There are good EX sizing tools available from EMC. I don't know if they are on Powerlink but you can refer to your Sales Rep for them.

I think in Inst/Admin guide also, they have given a formula to calculate the volume sizes.

Apart from the no. of mailboxes, you would need to know the average size of mails and no. of days per week etc.

Usually this job gets done by the Professional Services engineers. For your reference there is Disk Space Work Sheet in the EmailXtender Installation guide (Chaper 2, pages 7-8). Please also check rest of the requirements, but we need to remember those are MINIMUM and you will have to INCREASE those to suit your requirements.

Chaper 2 has most of the information required for EX server install.
