I got 10 of these messages in a row recently. Anybody else getting these?

Thank you.

Do we have any Category INDEX events in the OTG log following these errors that possibly indicate that EX was able to execute the task?

Also are there any items in the Ex Administrator indicating issues with the volumes?

This is the entire message. The rest are almost the same. It was during a delete task. We are not doing journeling.

Is this the only contents of the error message?

Also, if you refresh the OTG log, are there any Information messages referencing the index that EX is trying to rename?

Which Version of EX are we running?

Were you performing an Re-Index task, or is this just from real-time journaling?

Thanks

Chris

I think it would be worth your while to check the status of volume 20070822145559 in the ExAdmin.

What is the status of this volume? Record Failed?

Is there any blue or red ! next to it?

If status is recording failed, what needs to be done to fix it?

Ok

Finally, I would check the status of this via healthcheck to make sure.

Open Healthcheck, Click on "View" drop down, and select View by volume.

Navigate in the left hand pane to the location of the Volume. i.e EmailVault_Index_Archive > 200708

What is the status here?

We can go one step further if interested... but it may be difficult to explain in the forum.

Let me know the results, and we'll go from there.

Thanks

No red or blue marks next to it. Nothing in the status column

Right click on the offending volume in the Ex Administrator, and choose close.

Wait for it to go through the "Record Pending/Recording" statuses.

Once it goes through this, and it comes back again as Record Failed then I would recomend opening a support ticket with EMC (or your support provider) for assistance using the ManageXvlts utility.

there is no 200708. Only goes to 200705. We are only shortcutting the last 90 days

We received this message again on a different archiving task. In investigating this further by tracking down the message involved, it appears that in both cases, the message had many documents attached, with the first 10-30 characters in their name the same.

Is it possible that only a limited part of the document name is used for indexing and this is causing a problem? Or perhaps the user had attached the same document (or same name, but different document) more than once and it is getting thrown away when it is archived, so we cannot tell by looking at the archived copy?

In both cases, the Indexer logs show
"Critical Error: NON-UNIQ MsgId"
followed by only a portion of one or more of the document names....
