Incompatibility with CRM 4.0 Add-in / Build 1296 of User Cache

So a few of my users have recently indicated a problem with Outlook crashing upon exiting. Ultimately its more a bother because they're exiting outlook, but one of EMC's dll files for user cache is "causing the problem" upon exiting...i found it only happened after Microsoft's CRM 4.0 Outlook add in was installed...so it's not really the UC crashing it, it's something in CRM that probably remains open and causes EMC to crash as it tries to unload. Just my guess. Has anyone found any potential issue in your environments with CRM 4.0?

Also...i'm trying to download the 1296 build of User Cache per this article: https://solutions.emc.com/nsepn/webapps/stqv768481dmts46655278/emcsolutionview.asp?id=esg90664

Does anyone have it available somewhere for download or know where I can get it? I've contacted EMC to request it. Unfortunately the 133x build of UC requires both server and ALL CLIENTS must upgrade at the same time...being that I cannot easily roll this out to my clients, this is not an option. Any assistance with finding the download area for it would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi,

Best is to talk to EMC support for this request. They might be able to get it for you from their seniors after they will evaluate the situation that you being on that particular build would not face any other issue.

Thanks,
Raj

Hello Ytsejamer1,

I've had tons of problems with UC (deployed on 2000-3000 users). Major problems!!!

I was informed that UC is currently completly redeveloped/reprogrammed. A new version is going to be released 11. November (US time). It's going to be a 6.5 version as the new EX version is also 6.5 apparently released in December.

I was told to hang in (with all the performance, freezing and Outlook crashes). On the UC 4.7 there is no/little effort done to fix this. - Basic problem is the architecture and how UC integrates (what layer) with Outlook.

So, if you have a incompatibility of plug-in, I would suggest to contact EMC (and in case they don't tell you much) hang in and wait.

Hope this info helps. Kind regards,
Jochen.

Thanks for the heads up... I'm definitely not thrilled with UC...it feels like a beta program...very buggy and particular. I'm curious to see the changes...they definitely something better than this.

I just got EX up to b655...it was a nightmare of an upgrade...can't wait to go through it all again!
