How do I stop re-indexing?

Apparently I have a few thousand 90 meg volumeswaiting for re-indexing. I had no idea they would take as long as they do and I would like to reset them. As soon as I get them reset I will run the health check and just re-index what needs it.

Just got off the phone with support and.....

There is no way to stop it. Just have to let it finish. Personally, that sounds like a bug to me. If the re-indexing is *pending* and not actaully running for most of the volumes why can't it be reset?

Oh well, only about 5 days to go.

Hi there,

Support is right in saying that once you initiate reindexing of index set or all monthly data you should not stop it. The reason is when you do actions like reindex monthly data or reindex corrupt indexes index information for those index sets is disposed and all the data is reindexed to create index information.

While reindexing is in process you can see multiple files with .reindex extenssion in the DropDir folder where you keep indexes. Till all the reindex files disapper you will have to wait.

"Reindexing" and "Reindex Pending" state you see in Admin GUI is from reg keys for those volumes, once the .reindex files will be processes by index threads those reg keys will be set to the right state. If your admin GUI is set to not to refresh automatically you will not see the changes, in that case I would suggest closing Admin GUI and re-opening the same.

Just watch for the number of .reindex files, that should decrease with the time if now more EmailXtract jobs are running, why I am saying EmailXtract jobs is because those jobs pull in data and created other files in the DropDir folder. If indexer is busy working on those it would not get enough cycles to work on .reindex files.

Also remember to not to delete anything from DropDir folder.

Hope this clarifies a few things.

Thanks,
Rajan
