Grey folders in Healthcheck

Hello guys,

I have a question about of the grey folders in Healthcheck.
Why have I these folders in healthcheck? If I stop EmailXtender (Journaling and Xtract), these folders disappear after some time.... why?

I have a upgrade to EmailXtender and I need to understand this fact.

Thanks to all.

Hi Pit,

okay, understood: You don't have a problem displaying index folders either grey or yellow! You only have a problem, when you see blue or red exlamation marks in EmailXtender Administrator. When you see a blue or red exclamation mark in EmailXtender Administrator, you will also see these in HealthCheck. Only then, your index is broken or corrupt.

Having grey folders is not a problem. Just "load index"... when closing health check, they just happen to be greyed out again (it's a feature, not a bug)! ;-)

In HealthCheck, when you load an index, the result pane is also saved in a log file as HealthCheck.log. The results are appended to the log file. When HealthCheck is too slow, just rename the file and reopen HealthCheck! <= This is just additional information and not relevant to your request.

Your English is well enough, don't you worry!

If you have further questions, just reply.
Regards, Jochen.

Hi Pit,

Healthcheck (HC) verifies the health of your Index. They are greyed out in case the utility hasn't read the content in. This happens every time you open the HC (most likely). At least for my preivious installations, this is nothing to worry about. - Bit annoying, but one has to "Load Index" to read a greyed out folder in again.

The information in HC is read in (right at the beginning) an then cached until closed. In the installation path, where the healthcheck.exe is, resides the temp-file for the info displayed (bottom window). At one customer, the log file was 1 or 2GB and HC reliability decreased extremely.

I don't understand your comment "If I stop EmailXtender (Journaling and Xtract), these folders disappear after some time.... why?"
- What does disappear. The grey folder are not greyed-out anymore?

To my understanding, the running/stopping of services has nothing to do with HC.

Hope this helps,
Jochen.
