Failed to Connect to Query Service at Localhost:8

Whenever I try to modify or view the properties of a task in EmailXtract I get the error message in a pop up box "Failed to Connect to Query Service at "localhost:8"
I dont see any immediate impact from the error message but it still concerns me obviously.
Any ideas? This is 4.8 SP1 (4.81.409) on Windows 2003 SP1.

Check if the Query service is working consistently. EMC recommends reserving port 1208 for Query service.

Reserve the port and see if this helps.

Mac, If I am correct, EX server(which has Query service) needs SQL server on the same machine as a pre-requisite. I think Ex would start only if SQL services are running.

To my knowledge EMC recommends that the SQL server is installed locally, but this is not a prerequisite. During the installation, you can "name" also other host names and sql databases.

In anyway, SQL must be running before EX comes up. Was this the problem for your query error?!

FIrst of all , in most of the environments suggested would be to reserve TCP ports from 1200 to 1212.

Second think I could think of is that one of the services is still in suspend state. Yo can use ExSuspend to bring services back to normal. Otherwise speak to EMC support about it.
