EX Search results

We had manager reported that when she searches EX for emails that she sent to her co-work, the search results returned more than 1 person in recipients list, It seems that her co-works is a delegate of one or more people.

I want to understand is this a EX search feature or something what user not suppose to see in the search results?

Hi Mathew,

Did you get chance to see who was the other person in the recipients list ? EX as I know does not add recipients to the emails because it saves them as MSG messages and search results are not running against MSG files but combinration of SQL and ISYS files.

If we know this message was archived using real time journaling then we might want to see how did another recipient got added.

EX supports delegate searched but that is more of AD/exchange/notes permission side and it does not need to change any recipients.

Just one note though people with Admin Searches can see BCC info I hope that is not what it is.

Otherwise I would suggest contacting EmailXtender Support for more analysis.

Hi Rajan

Yes, I can see other recipients in the search result, in fact I can see three other recipients.

User did not search under admin role, only search as a user.

Our environment is using real time journaling of all the mailboxes, would this caused this search issue to occur?

For example, I sent you an invite message, and happen to be two of your other colleagues in your outlook delegation lists. and when I go to search this invite message I sent you using EX search plugin, I see you and two of your colleagues on the recipient list.

Should I log a SR with EMC support for the further analysis this email?

Thanks
Swang

Hi Swang,

If your theory is right then this issue should be reproduable, if its reproducable then its easy to provide explanation and if needed find a fix as well.

Otherwise I could think of another case, let us say while messages was being drafter user had already selected three users. During this time if EmailXtract job ran and Drafts folder was not deselected then it would have archived copy from drafts folder. When the person who was going to send the email would have sent email later on, he might have sent it to one person only. In this case you should have two messages in search because second message would have been sent later on and its messageID would have been different than the original message.

If more work is required I would strongly suggest speaking to support.

Thanks,
Rajan
