Errors in the Event Log
Hi,
We are running EmailXtender 4.81.655 with the Outlook plug-in.
We seem to get these error messages in the Event log on the archiving server. I have listed 4 of them below.
Does anyone know what they mean? Are they are problem? Is there something we need to be fixing?

But when I put the whole string of numbers into the EmailXtender search add-in (as administrator) they all resolve to a System Administrator message.
It's like EX has trouble with those messages... maybe someone can explain a bit more why, but that's what I see.

We see few of these error on regular basis even when shortcuts will continue to resolve, following is what I could think of
Error 1:

Rajan: This error can still appear even though EX ended up resolving the shortcuts. There are multiple scenarios when you could see those:
1. Shortcut had large attachment, EX continued to restore back shortcut but client seems call seems to have times out. Shortcut failure pop-up might occur but once outlook will sync to Exchange it would not be shortcut any more since EX restored mail back to the mailbox. In cache mode it would be slightly delayed due to outlook sync settings.
2. Someone ran shortcut and Archive jobs together, email might be still in Archive queue when user will pulling mail, message was still not attached to a container number in SQL from where calls gets resolved.
3. If you have users who could not resolve certain shortcuts and every time you pull a shortcut and see an error message in OTG log call EMC Support.
4. If you have TWO or more EX servers in environment then calls could fail on a server where mail is not archive so that server will show error message.

Answer: If routine is RestoreShortcutByEID then naturally it was due to a shortcut call, either it could be related to the above mentioned errors or temp MAPI profile could be corrupt or derefference, EX will create and try to use another temp mapi profile which you might see as Information message in OTG log.

Rajan: Please find out user who has certain shortcuts that does not resolce, all this error message is showing that call for a resore might have failed. One reason might be that a user has a special character in his outlook folder that is clashing with IIS query that gets used for shortcut resolution. One of such characters could be '&'. Still if you have these error reported and you have user on which support could work please contact EMC Support.
Error 4:
* EMail Data Source Error 11/27/08 14:34:43 SendMail: Unknown Unpacker Error
Rajan: If its thrown by Data Source then it could be something to do with certain messages that EX is pulling to the system. Some time messages could have people in To or CC list that would not resolve, a message that is corrupt in mailbox (AV can cause it), anti virus changes or striped out information from a message and now its not properly readable then you could see this error message, but this is not limited to this scenatio only. Please have a look at messages stuck on the bottom of journaling mailbox or check MSGCENTER\BadDir folder for such messages. Any messages that EX could not process due to any given reason ends up in BadDir which could be processed with the help of utilties provided. please check EX documentation on ExBadDirProcessor.exe util.
If you have a VERY LARGE number of emails in BadDir please check your EX and Environment properly something could be questionable.
