EmailXtract more than on mailbox at once

When running archive task on emailxtract, can it be changed to do more than one mailbox simultaneously? It is doing one a at a time and taking forever.

Hello,
I'm glad to see someone else asked this question too :)

From what i learned you cannot have one task in emailxtract process mailboxes simultaniously. We run one task for each server at the same time. They start 20's after each other daily. Note support will mention that it's not good to run to many simultanious tasks at once, or to start them at the same time (?).

Just FYI, we had a problem at the beginning where the exchange AV was causing the tasks to run very very very slow. Disabling AV for a moment identified this, and we made modifications to the way the AV monitors in realtime to allow emailxtract to work faster. (BES activity was also affected by this AV configuration, and after the change went much better as well).

hope that helps.

Hello,

No EmailXtract task cannot run multiple threads to do multiple mailboxes at the same time. Even if it would have been able to do that then it could have caused problem on busy servers because it would have went through multiple mailboxes very quickly creating way many changes in a very short time. Busy messaging servers would have got overwhelm with the sync and other requets. But that is totally different that that what you were asking. Answer to your query is in the first line of my reply.

As Wiser replied you can have multiple EmailXtract jobs running against multiple exchange servers at the same time. That way your exchange servers would not get overwhelm and you will have multiple tasks running for multiple mailboxes.

What you need to watch for is that EmailXtract is a very powerful application it can bring in a lot of data to EX servers in a very short time. Especially if you have multiple tasks running at the same time. You might want to monitor your EX and messaging servers while running multiple EmailXtract jobs.

Thanks,
Raj
