EmailXtract - How To Run Scheduled Tasks as a Service
I am trying to set up some tasks (archive, shortcut, and delete) in EmailXtract to run as a service...this would be very beneficial for the client so that it would run automatically and the client would just have to verify that it is working instead of manually running it (which we all sometimes forget to do). However, under 2 different EX servers the process doesn't work. I set the appropriate parameters and open the scheduled tasks dialogue box. A countdown to when the task will take place is shown. When the task runs (and completes), I check the log file and what I see is 'No server(s) or PSTs found' under version 4.80. On version 4.81, I don't even get a log file generated.
Has anyone else run into this situation, and if so, what was the solution?
Thanks in advance for your help.

No server(s) or PSTs found.
Server availability checked...
Task Completion Time : 05-06-2008 20:45:05
The task is scheduled as:
Recurring Daily Task, Run as Service
Start Task at: 20:45:00
When I run this task manual. It works perfect. When it should run as a service it doesn't.
Does anybody know how to resolve this?

I had similar issues regarding this version of emailxtract. EMC support staff provided me with a patch. After that, all tasks defined to run as a service, worked again as expected. I suggest to open a case at EMC.

What Guido Peter has mentioned was true for EX 4.81.409 version and specific to WIndows 2003 SP2 (SP1 didn't have issue), but you are running 4.81.564 which had the fix already added. There is a good chance that issue could be somewhere else, now since you are engaging support I am sure they will he able to help you there.
Thanks,
Raj

I couldn't install it yet. I'll post here how it worked.

The hotfix did what it had to do. What a relief.
