Emailxtender upgrade to Source One with Centera in CE+ Mode

Does anyone know of plans for Source One to support reading the existing data written by Emailxtender 4.8 onto Centera's in compliance edition plus mode.  I know we could read the data during a converion and write it back, but then I have to double up on the amount of data written and figure out how to continue to age off the data, I guess continuing to use Diskxtender.  For an upgrade path it seems Source One should be able to just use the data that was already written, even it needed to re-index it to the a new indexing schema.

The SourceOne Migration process writes a brand new copy of the data to a new Centera Pool.

The architecture and data format has changed enough that this is required.

SourceOne has a Centera API built in and doesn't require DiskXtender.

Compliance+ Edition of Centera is Infinite Retention and can only possibly be deleted through EMC.

Appreciate the quick response.

Right, I have raised the issue before, basically when the Centera is in

CE+ mode then, you have to double up on storage. And then after the

conversion how do I manage the old data that still hasnt reached its

expiration date?

You can't delete or manage the old data in the CE+ Mode.

1) You can forget about it since it will be in the new SourceOne Archive and lose the space.

2) You can request that EMC Delete the data from that Pool (Hopefully it's in its own pool) and go through the procedure to do so.

So if you had a subpoena and the data wasnt rolling off and you do have it

(no matter how hard it might be for you search), wouldnt you be obligated

to produce it or face penalties?

Somehow losing half the space on my centera because of a forced upgrade to

a product and EMC not stepping forward to help with it doesnt seem right.

The data is in a pool by itself, the delete though is really a reset of

the entire device in CE+ mode and the write back the pools you need to

keep, of course that works well only if you have a replicated pair, we

happen to have that.
