EmailXtender Server Replacement (Migration)
I've built up a new EmailXtender server, 4.81 SP1 on Windows 2003 SP2. Both the old and new servers are as close as possible to each other.
I've copied the emx files from the old storage location (local disk) to a new location (cifs share). They appeared in the lost and found within EmailXtender Admin, I added all of the volumes, the re-index took place. I'm testing this, so I took two different months of emx files and added them. One from 200907 and one from 200201.
PROBLEM: When I search with my EmailXtender Admin account I can see all the emails from both months for all users. When I search with my user account (one that's been around since 2000), I can only see emails from 200907. All of the 200201 emails do not appear. Once again, if I search with the Admin account I can see emails sent to and from myself in the 200201 timeframe.
The only thing I can think of is that we put in EmailXtender in 2006, all emails before that we're archived with an EmailXtract task. After 2006 implementation, we started using Exchange journaling to capture all emails.
Any ideas anyone? Does anyone know where the link of an email message to an owner is kept? In the emx file or the database?

If emails are archived through emailxtract their ownership is added to the index sets and in the SQL. If you are processing messages from containers if ownership is not part of the access file packed within buffered file then ownership are gone because those were in the SQL tables.
If you will engage EMC Support they should be able to give you exact reason on what happened as they will do the tests in SQL, Index sets and by unpacking buffered messages.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Rajan

Orginally I just imported the emx files into my new install of Emailxtender using a new database. Yesterday, I used a backup of my current running database on the server I'm going to replace, but still no luck getting in those 200201 emails. I also added emx files from 200601 (before Emailxtender was installed, emails archived via Emaixtract) and emx files from 200607 (after Emailxtender was intalled, emails archived through Exchange journaling). I'm able to access both sets of emails, so once again its just those 200201 emails that I can't access.

Today, I deleted the 200201 volume, restored the database and imported the 200201 volume, let it index, now I can search my emails no issue.
