EmailXtender Outlook Plug-in. Troubleshooting.
Hello,
We sometimes run into problems with the Email Xtender Outlook Plug-in on user workstations. This question isn't necessarily specific to any version of the Plug-in.
I am looking for any tools to help troubleshoot when the Plug-in stops working. Our current solution is to:
1. Try a repair.
2. Uninstall the plug-in and re-install,
3. or uninstall the Plug-in and Office, and do a re-install both.
In most cases one of the above works. I'm looking for any additional troubleshooting techniques that can help resolve the issue without simply trying to reinstall the product.
Thanks,

4. Trying to repair MAPI32.dll (there are support notes on it)
5. Check Outlook Disabled Add-in (most of the time people forget about it)
6. Check if user has enough registry permissions.
Thanks,
Raj

HKLM\Software\EMC\ExShortcutAddin
Añadir el valor alfanumérico:
LogFilePath --> se añade la ruta donde queremos el log.
Añadir el valor DWORD:
LogMode --> con valor 1
Abrimos el Outlook.

If plug-in is not enabledin outlook there is nothing that it would record. So always check first thing in the disabled items that EmailXtender Add-in should not be disabled.
Thanks,
Raj

It is now there by default on client machine, instead its needed to be created for specific troubleshooting resons. Most of the time support engineer will ask you to create it should there be a need. Otherwise you do not need to create it.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\EMC\EXShortcutAddin does exist.
I tried added the entry in there but it did not start logging anything.
For the "LogFilePath" entry, should it be a string or Dword? Also should it have a "\" on the end of the path or none?
Thanks.

But for certain situations, I just do a repair. Works 99 times out of a 100. (Trust me, I've had to do it a 100 times!

1. If user logged in does not have enough permission in registry.
2. If EmailXtender Add-in is disabled in outlook. Please check disabled items under Help menu.
Thanks,
Rajan
