Discover Manager error "No support email client was detected for native viewing"

I just upgraded Office 2007 to Office 2013 on the server that has Discover Manager 6.8.0.4127.  I was going to straight to 2016, but I wanted to make sure it would work with 2013 first.  After the upgrade, I went to a collection and was able to view the messages in the preview window.  However, when double-clicking on the message itself, it would give me the error "No supported email client was detected for native viewing".

I checked Default Programs and Outlook is set to open .msg files.

I have no problem opening Outlook, then opening a PST file to view the messages (PST exported from DM)

I'm currently on version 6.8.

Is Office 2013 not supported with 6.8?   I don't think there aren't that many drastic changes from 2007.

S1 6.8 does not support Outlook 2013.  You must get to 7.x to support this version of Outlook.  Outlook 2010 is supported by 6.8.  There are a number of changes between O2007 and O2013.

Suggest a review of the compatibility guide to verify the combinations of components you are looking to achieve.

Thanks for the info.

I did review the documentation and there's mentioning of support for up to Exchange 2010, nothing specific about the Outlook client. The S1 mail archive installation has not been archiving new messages for years and the Exchange 2010 infrastructure originally set up to work with this DM 6.8 had long been retired. Archived emails are retained for compliance reasons.

I'm not sure how I'm able to preview the message after highlighting it, but double-clicking would produce the error. I can export the search to a PST file and open it with Outlooj 2013 in that server just fine.

Yes that is true that Outlook is not specifically called out related to Discovery Manager.  It is however called out about SourceOne in general as to the version of Outlook required.  In the latest compatibility guide, check around Page 70 in the S1 6.8 section.

Also if you look in Offline Access for 6.8, it also lists Outlook 2010.

the underlying as to why you cannot view a message dynamically does have to do with how 6.8 interacts with MAPI, and there are some changes to how MAPI performs and is coded in Outlook 2010 and prior and how it works in Outlook 2013.  Best to review what those changes are in the Microsoft pages for MAPI.
