UIM API

Yes, I'm basically trying to get from UIM Provisioning Center 2.1 the list of all "managed" elements, like the list of all vCenters, MDS, UCS, Clariion,etc.

vSphere is available throught byType/vCenter, but it's impossible to get for example all MDS/UCS ip address.

Then, I'll be looking for relationships, like this ESX belongs to Vblock ABC, etc.

Does Operations Center will have any API that would expose such thing ?  To my understanding, OC will be based on smarts, so is dmctl api kinda be their ?

Marc, the API I hope you are using is based around service offerings and service resources.  It does not provide any topology information.  There is a resource model for the elements within a Vblock but it is not published.  Depending on what you are trying to do there may already be a product that does what you are trying.  For example, UIM Operations is about to release which will provide topology views and overlays against the VM and vApp containers.

Operations center is not based on smarts FYI.  It does have some smarts like pieces   but the topology and references as to what is part of a Vblock are part of the UIM data model.  There is an API which is not published for this information and if you are willing to use an API that is going to change and accept the risk of backwards compatibility the information is available.  If you can wait a bit - then there will be better APIs coming soon that will substanctially increase the compatibility going forward and expand the information provided.  The APIs are for qualified projects only so you would have to go through UIM product management to get access to the specifications.
