Not able to view Polling and Threshold window in Storage Insight Analysis

Hello All,

I am new to Storage Insight Analysis part.

I've logged into Storage Topology and from there I've opened Polling and Threshold from Configure menu, there am not able to view anything it is just blank screen.

Can anyone plz suggest me how to open the polling and Threshold setting for Storage Insight Topology.

Thanks in Advance,

Raja.

Hi Raja,

In the Polling and Thresholds section, you should see the Device Access tab and the credential groups.

If not, then it may be an issue with the bootstrap file you are using. What bootstrap file is used when starting the SIA Topology domain? Default is bootstrap-topology.conf and is located at : \SI\smarts\conf\sia\. Remember of this file has been edited with sm_edit, then the file used will be in the local directory : \SI\smarts\local\conf\sia\

Have you edited this bootstrap file?

Can you please review the server log file for any errors related to the bootstrap file used?

If you require further support, please attach the SIA topology server log file and bootstrap file to this forum post.

Thanks.

Kind Regards,

Paul O'Rourke

Hello Paul,

Thanks for the response.

No errors in the log file

The configuration part was done by someone and now I was asked to support this and configure the Control center to it.

So, when I have tried to open the Polling and Threshold screen it is blank. so what I need to do to view that page.

I've admin access but still am not able to view the Polling and Threshold screen o SIA Topology.

Thanks and Regards,

Raja.

Hi Raja,

It may be that one of the SIA topology or analysis rps files is corrupt.

Can you please proceed as follows and let me know if creating a fresh topology resolves this issue (please ensure that you have the ECC Credentials used in SIA before performing the following steps as the credentials are required to add ECC as a source).

Steps:

1.) Stop SIA Topology and Analysis domains and make backup copies of the RPS files from InCharge\SI\smarts\local\repos\beacon and InCharge\SI\smarts\local\repos\icf.

2.) Once you have backed up the rps files, delete them from the above locations.

3.) Start SIA Topology and Analysis Servers and new rps files will be created.

4.) Attach to the Topology domain using the Domain Manager Administration Console and go to Polling and Thresholds.

5.) Do you see the Device Access tab? If so, recreate the ECC Credentials.

6.) Add ECC as a ControlCenter Source (also in the Domain Manager Administration Console).

Please let me know how this goes.

Kind Regards,

Paul,

Other than ECC, some more domains(for adding storage device) are also added to it and no one from my team are aware of those credentials, it is the big issue for me to move forward.

The domains are starting from bootstrap-topology.conf file and it is located at: \SI\smarts\conf\sia\ and no local copy is created at \SI\smarts\local\conf\sia\. If I add my id in \SI\smarts\conf\ServerConnect.conf will it make any sence other that at \SI\smarts\local\conf\ServerConnect.conf.

Or

if there is any alternative to resolve this issue, plz suggest me.

Thanks and Regards,

Raja.

Hi Raja,

As we have taken this as far as possible in this forum and we may need to involve SIA engineering, I suggest that you open an SR with EMC support to troubleshoot this issue further.

When creating the SR, can you please upload the log files for the SIA topology domain located at :

/smarts/local/logs/

Additionally, can you please upload some screen captures of what you see in the SIA Polling and Thresholds window?

Thanks,

Kind Regards,
