IP-AM Can't Make Chassis Object.
Can your SMARTS(IP-AM) make a Chassis object of
Catalyst4948G-E ?
In my system,IP-AM makes Switch objects of Catalyst4948G-E.
But,it doesn't make Chassis object.
If other Switches such as Catalyst2940/3750/6500,IP-AM makes Switch object & Chassis object.
Why??
Do you have the good solutions?
#IP-AM's version is V7.0.1.0(70444).

This device is not in the last certification list published by EMC for Smarts 7.0.1.
I guess this is quite a new Cisco device but since it's Cisco it will be certified (I guess) in the next SP or mayor release.
You can also open a certification request with EMC support or even certify the device yourself using a similar device to certify it or standard mibs.
Yo can find the certification files in powerlink.emc.com
Home > Support > Technical Documentation and Advisories > Software ~ S ~ Documentation > Smarts Family > Smarts IP Management Suite > Certification Files
Sending a device certification:
http://knowledgebase.emc.com/emcice/documentDisplay.do;jsessionid=4D488B57F6A56643F3C0E343B21FA424?docType=1006&clusterName=DefaultCluster&resultType=5002&groupId=1&page=&docProp=$solution_id&docPropValue=emc110117&passedTitle=null
cerifying a device:

i hope this helps
cheers

Thank you for your reply.
I checked the certificated lists.
In the lists, there are the device named "4948G-L3".
I think It means Catalyst 4948G-E,is it wrong?
P.S.
This list is useful and helpful .
Thank you.

Well, I don't know for sure if there are the same type of device.
Yo must check the OIDs of both devices, you should have both since you have your device discovered and the one in the certification list.
If the OIDs are different you can certify your device manually until EMC releases a new certification.
Follow the instructions on the 2nd link in my previous reply in order to certify a device
cheers

but there are at least 2 types of 4948
Cisco Catalyst 4000 Series
4948 OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.626
4948-10GE3 OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.659
the one certified is:
Cisco 4948G-L3 Switch .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.626 IP-6.2-SP3
so if you have the 4948-10GE3 OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.659 you should send a certificartion to SMARTS and cerity it manually in oid2type_Field
cheers

I use 4948-10GE3 .
I had been adviced the way of manual certification in oid2type file by the EMC support.
And I'm trying it now.
