Integrating a Change Management System with Smarts

Hello, we are planning to integrate Smarts with our Change Management System (In house system) and I wonder if some of you have already done it. One thing we want to do is automatically add devices in maintenance as soon as the user mark those devices in the change system. We are developing some webservices operation to accomplish this and we are using the smarts java api.  Is there any class operation to add a device in maintenance?

I read the primus emc231094 but I dont know if I fully understand it... I mean, the only way I add a device in maintenance is creating a SchedMaint notification for the device and use those UserDefined fields?

Do you have any other suggestions?

Hello,

The steps shown in the Primus article you mentioned (emc231094) are the equivalent of what you perform in the Global Console GUI to manage scheduled maintenance periods in a SAM domain.  The 2 dmctl commands quoted in the solution are what enables the scheduled maintenance feature.  And the sm_ems command which follows creates the required SchedMaint notification.

Given this, what are you uncertain about, or what further/alternative functionality do you require?

Kind Regards,
