Install IONIX 8.1 (SAM and IPM) on RHEL 6

Hi there,

as we want to move from Solaris to Linux and I think that i am not the only one who will deploy on RedHat Enterprise Linux 6, I'm curouis about your experiences with (one of the) both products on this unsupported RHEL version.

I know, that I can't count on EMC support in case of any problems, but I also guess, that nobody runs Windows ME on his workstation.. so there should be also no need to install old(er) version of operating systems on the appropriate servers.

So just in case somebody already did this installation I would like to hear of any "trouble" you hassled with and/or solutions you found. Even information that certain parts of those simply not work will be highly appreciated.

I'll update this thread with my findings as well.

Thanks & Regards

Christian

Hello Christian,

Use RHEL 5. It described in product documentation requrements and it's really works.

Please note that  the versions of some IOnix products for example (MCAST, SAM Paches) are different for RHEL 5.
