Hi New to EMC Smarts

I would like to investigate the EMC Smarts Application. The customer is using this as a pre-processing location for their logs.

I would like to know the following :

1 ) What format are the logs kept within EMC smarts once they are received from the network appliances.

2 ) If the network appliances send their Syslogs to the EMC, how are these collated and thus how can they be forwarded.

3) Is it possible to forward the logs from EMC Smarts to multiple recievers (syslog or something else)

thanks in advance

Gary

Are you talking about the Syslog adapter, by default it looks in /var/log/syslog

You should look at the Adapter Platform User Guide

By Default it:

  • Converts the syslog messages it receives into new Service Assurance notifications or updates the existing Service Assurance notifications.
  • Forwards them on to the Global Manager.

Once the event is the the Global Manager then you are only limited by your imagination.
