Hi , Can anybody help me in knowing why we need to change the soothing level if we are changing the event severity in emc smarts?

I found this document online which says that the soothing interval should be decreased  by 1 sec when we are changing the alert severity, But I'm not sure why it should be done also what difference it will bring ?

Can anybody please help me on this?

For example :

Change the following: sev Processor_Performance       HighUtilization         Resource        2

To the following: sev Processor_Performance       HighUtilization         Resource        3

5. Make a change to Smoothing Interval, example from 65 second to 64 second for the domain type you are changing. Run reconfigure for the change to take effect.  Change also takes effect when SAM domain is restarted i.e please restart the Incharge-SA service.
