Discovery of SNMP agent on Quantum tape libraries

Has anyone tried to discover a tape library. We have a Quantum Scalar i2000 which is running SNMP. I've enable SNMP however am having problems getting any response back from the library. I've also added the the ip address of the IP manager server in as a trap receiver thinking that maybe the library does not know how to get back to the server... but that did not help.

Thanks.... Tim Benson

Hello Tim!

I have created discovery driver for library.

Try to use snmpwalk or snmpget to receive information from Quantum lib.
Snmpwalk example : snmpwalk -с public -v2c ip_addr.

P.s
snmpwalk and snmpget is part of Net-Snmp package.

If you use windows , try to search Mib Browser in google.

Tim,

You will definately want to troubleshoot the connectivity to the library. Verify that you can ping it, verify the community setup, and ensure that no firewals or anything in between are denying SNMP traffic.

Other than that you should have no problem recieving your responses or traps.

All of that is independent of SMARTS really.

TC,

Thanks yes I can ping the library ect. I do however need to verify the community string on the library. I think that is were the issue is however I've not been able to get back to it and was working on the CMDB export scripts..

I will load the current version of the firmware for the library and repost this if the firmware does not resovle the issue.
