Device Names!
The Cisco devices we have in Smarts are ( have been ) identified by name, ( DNS ), however in the last few days Smarts is identifying those devices by IP only.
The mapping also seems to have disappeared as well.
Any clues?
Thanks...

did you try a nslookup or ping -a to the ip address of your devices? don't know the OS you're using so can tell you the exact commands
Any changes on the nameresolver.conf file? Do you use a seed file for provisioning?
you have to ways to name your systems as set up in nameresolver.conf?
TM_USEAUTONAME (default) - resolves against dns
TM_USESEEDNAME - uses seed name
if you're using TM_USEAUTONAME, this is the order that SMARTS uses to resolve the name
◆ Loopback IP address
◆ MIB-II sysName
◆ Public IP address
◆ Private IP address
◆ SNMP agent address
is it possible your system is resolving againts the sysname in your devices and there are not properly configured now and you have not DNS at all?
cheers
