Device Availability
Hello All
How do I go about extracting the uptime/availability of devices that are currently monitored by EMC smarts from the database.
I would like to calculate the device availability on a weekly/monthly basis
Thanks
Sincerely,

there are multiple solutions to do so, depending of the solution you have today and what you want to achieve ...
(1) using the notifications from SAM,
- "manually" (scripts)
- using a product (APG is one of them, sorry to "plug" this here...)
(2) using the status from the IP domain manager,
- "manually" (scripts again)
- using a product (APG is again one of them ...)
My 2 cents,

Another solution is create Oracle DB or MySql DB and install Smarts SDI adapter , going with adapter.
Then you should install ODBC driver, if you use Windows platform, you have free ODBC driver, if you use Unix platform you should install DATA-DIRECT ODBC driver or use Unix Open ODBC driver.
So, now you have DWH without gui - all events that arrives to SAM manager , SDI insert to DB.
If you have experiense with SQL , in easy you can create any reports.
2) Install Business Object Enterprise product with SDI adapter.
BOE is something like Crystal Reports, currently this product supports by SAP.

My (admitedly hokey) method for this is to have created an adapter subscribing to "CLEAR" notifications and storing the notification duration in a database table with the device. I then have total outage time for all devices.
It was quick and dirty, but it works.

I need help with IT performance Reporter. I saw your post in which you have sujeested to use this product.. Well i have installed t and integrated with my SMARTS SAM but the problem is that i m not getting any output on dashboard although its bringing the event from the SMARTS in the notification area of ITPR.
Any idea why the dashboards are not getting populated???
Urgent help would be really appreciated..
Thanks
BK.
