Using ESRS Gateway with VNXe
I have a Vblock system on a customers site that is having issue with ESRS connectivity to a VNXe used in the AMP
As this is an external ESRS Version 2 gateway other than firewall setting to and from the gateway is there anywhere in the GUi or command line that I am supposed to change setting to support an external ESRS
With a VNX you have to set alerts to support ESRS but not seen anything or found any articles reference this
There is a knowledge based article for setting this up but my Powerlink login will not let me open this
https://support.emc.com/kb/198585
any ideas
Normally gateway setup is the realm of EMC only but want to be sure I have not missed anything
The ESRS setting in the GUI are for the firmware based adition of the ESRS I believe or do we need to set this

That is what I thought with regards the ESRS setting in the GUI
Strange they need the EMCConnect home set to an IP address of one of the Gateways thought that was for mail services
Must be using the Gateway as a mail server then for call home via email
But that at least give me a way forward however had already setup a mail server and the article seem to indicate that setting the EMC Connect to use the gateway was a optional setup

As long as the required ports are open between the VNXe and the ESRS Gateway, the VNXe should be successfully managed by the Gateway and allow remote access to the VNXe as well as connect home from the VNXe. Is the device in a Missing state in the Configuration Tool that runs on the ESRS Gateway server?
The ESRS configuration on the VNXe is for the embedded ESRS device client and you don't need that since you have an ESRS Gateway. You do need to configure connect home on the VNXe so that connect home is pointed to the ESRS Gateway.

Ok does anybody know what somebody means by setup a dial home template on a VNXe array for ESRS connectivity
An EMC Engineer just came out with this as an added step to get ESRS working on a VNXe but outside making the EMC Connect home use a gateway servers as it smtp server as per earlier post do not see any step on a VNXe that could be considered setting up a dial home template etc
Think this is inline with a VNX not a VNXe but he keeps insisting I need to do this any ideas what he means

Yes, VNXe is different than VNX. I would recommend to do a WebEx with the Engineer (or customer support) to walk through the options. You can use the embedded, standalone ESRS device client for alerting, or choose SMTP alerting (and specify your own SMTP, or the ESRS SMTP).

Ok have had EMC look at this and we know the ESRS is actually working and EMC can connect to and login to the two arrays in the Vblock we installed a 720 with a VMAX 10 k and a 3150 VNXe in the AMP
Seem the issue is around the EMC SYR system and the machine not updating this properly so we cannot get this taken into support until it does.
Initially the VMAX was set to disabled in this and this has been rectified so both machine shows as enabled in the SYR
Is there anything on a VMAX or VNXe with the GUI that additionally needs to be done to get this setup in EMC SYR or is this all down to EMC to sort
The only setting on the VNXe that is recommended for ConnectEMC with remote gateways is to use an Ip address from the gateway for the dial home the VMAX is purely a setup with Symwin to use the gateway which was done
Have I missed something or is this simple raise call to EMC to sort
