Policy Manager - still needed?

We have had an ESRS Policy Manager host for awhile, in spite of the fact that we don't impose any policies on incoming connections. My question is, is there enough logging on the SRS gateways - specific date and time stamps of all incoming connections - to forego a Policy Manager host? If we are not using / imposing policies, why should we keep managing a Policy Manager host? Reading through documentation, I am not finding a compelling reason to maintain a PM host without policies in place. Essentially want to know if there is some other valid reason to keep it. Thanks
