ESRS IP Dial-In
Hi there.
As far as i understood, when installing ESRS IP Client on some Windows Machine inside the customers network, it is also possible for EMC Support to connect to the VNX System remotely.
My Question:
Is there a way to control the Dial-In from customer side? For example disable and enable only by request?
Or is dial-in possible per default and nobody can take influence on that?
Cheers
Alex

Take a look at the ESRS Operational Guide for Windows (it's also available for Linux, but you specifically mentioned Windows). It discusses a related piece of software, the ESRS Policy Manager. The Policy Manager controls how EMC is able to access your systems remotely. The ESRS Policy Manager Operations Guide has a section on Policy Settings. This describes in detail how to control access rights. In your case, you might want to set the Access rights to "Ask for Approval", which will require EMC to contact you and approve the ESRS connection.
Let us know if that helps!

The Policy Manager Operations Guide only talks about ESRS Gateway Clients, not about ESRS IP.
As far as i know there is a difference between ESRS GW and ESRS IP?
Or can i safely ignore this?

Alex,
I would recommend considering relocating your post to the "EMC Secure Remote Support Forum". You can do so as follows:
1) Along the right under "ACTIONS", select Move
2) Search for and select: "EMC Secure Remote Support Forum"

You're correct - ESRS IP is a different software suite. Follow Chris' suggestion and move your request to the EMC SRS forum - you'll get more visibility to your issue.

Hi Alex, apologies for the delay - I just stumbled on this since it was recently moved to the ESRS community.
The Policy Manager is compatible with all ESRS configurations, so it can be set up with ESRS IP Client on the VNX Management Station or the ESRS Gateway configuration (also the ESRS Device Client configuration, which is a version of ESRS that is embedded in the product).
The Policy Manager is customer-installable, and the PM software can be downloaded through the EMC Online Support site at https://download.emc.com/downloads/DL36274_EMC-Policy-Manager.zip
This controls remote access permissions, and among other features it also enables you to view a detailed audit log of all remote support activity. While it is optional, it is strongly encouraged.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
