Can ESRS be used to monitor events on devices under basic warranty?

Is it possible to use ESRS to perform event monitoring, without case creation, for a device not covered by Premium or Enhanced support (ie covered under warranty only)?

Hi Sam, I assume you are referring to a VNXe product since that is the only HW system that offers Basic level warranty/maintenance. We strongly encourage you to configure ESRS and also ConnectEMC (both part of the Unisphere configuration wizard) even if you are on Basic warranty/maintenance. This will enable EMC Customer Service to capture alerts and configuration files and it will also enable EMC to connect back in to the device to perform remote diagnosis and repair activities as needed. However, any system-generated connect-home events that would normally trigger a Service Request will not create a case unless you upgrade to Enhanced or Premium maintenance.
