Beware Of Migration Of An ESRS 2 Gateway
When the ESRS 2 Gateway is installed, a digital certificate is created and is keyed to the Gateway server's host name and physical (MAC) address. Because of that, you cannot migrate the Gateway client from one environment to another. For example, migrating the Gateway client from physical to virtual or from one virtual to another virtual will render the Gateway application inoperable. The use of VMotion for migration will cause the Gateway application to stop functioning. Unfortunately, the only recourse to recover from this situation is to remove the Gateway and reinstall. If it is necessary to migrate your Gateway application, please talk with your local EMC account team so that some preliminary steps can be performed to minimize the disruption to your environment.
