Will vCenter still continue to run after SSL certification expires?

Currently running vCenter 6.7.0.41000 on PowerEdge 670.

Currently had a company split and moved the server to a new company. The new company registered for a new domain name so we also need to get a new ssl certificate.

I may not be able to get the new ssl certificate before it expires. Would servers still be operative after ssl certificate expires or will it suddenly stop working?

It seems I would first need to version up vCenter to update 3 so I'll be able to change the domain name and then get a new ssl certificate for the new domain. If the server is still operative after ssl certificate expires, would I still be able to apply update 3, change domain name, and the update the ssl certificate?
