SupportAssist unable to add device - due to wrong device type
Hello,
we are using Dell OME 2.5.0.1005 and SA Enterprise 2.0.40.29 (both installed on same Windows server) to monitor/manage ~180 Dell devices.
The devices (PE servers, VRTX chassis, storages) are added via adapter to SA and a corresponding credential profile in in place for all different device types. So far so good...
While the SA inventory validation shows "success" for 125 devices, there are still ~50 devices remaining in state "staging".
I randomly checked some of those 50 devices and noticed that SA shows device type "iDRAC" and seems to use the system IP instead of the iDRAC IP.
When I select an affected device (from "staging" group), go to "edit" it shows device type "iDRAC" and also that it's using the account credentials for that device type. I am not able to change the device type (I assume because it was added through the OME adapter):
When I click on "revalidate" I get the error "[...] unable to add the device 10.159.32.1 because the device credentials are incorrect, incomplete, or not provided" where the mentioned IP is the IP address of the ESXi host instead of the iDRAC:
Other servers with state "success" show assignment of device type "Server / Hypervisor".
Any ideas how to fix this issue?

Hey there,
looks like SA messed up with all the IP's that are provided by OME.
In this case, I recommend to create Discovery Rules in SAE and not using the OME adapter.
OME discovers all the devices/servers/hosts within the given IP range and forwards them to SAE. This may cause issues, like the one you described.
Please try with a Discovery Rule in SAE, this should do the trick.
Cheers

Check your DNS Records for the correct iDrac Hostname possibly having the wrong IP or even multiple IP's.
1. If DNS record was incorrect, remove the Server from OME.
2. Once you can confirm the DNS Record is good, perform a manual Sync on your OME Adapter. This should remove it from SAE because it is now gone from OME.
3. Re-add to OME using the Fully Qualified Domain Hostname (FQDN).
4. Manually Re-sync OME Adapter in SupportAssist.
