SupportAssist Predictive Drive Failure

Hi,

I'm monitoring a number of servers with OME and SA. I've currently got 2 servers with predicted drive failure in OME but SA reports no errors. Should SA alert on this condition and log a support case?

Thanks,Gareth

Hi Gareth,

thanks for sending the TAG, I checked the systems logs and did only find a predictive warning from March 8th - the last created SupportAssist Collection does not show a new issue, but, was there already a replacement in March? Only ServiceRequest I see is the one you opened manually on the 6th of August.

For my understanding, the initial issue arose in March of this year but was never reported to tech support.

Since when do you use SA to monitor the systems? Maybe the server already had this issue ongoing when you added it to SA. In such a case there will be not new alert sent by the system and SA won't get this information.

Regards
Stefan

Hi Gareth,

it always depends on the severity of the issue and the service that is on the system.

If it is a basic service system there will be no case creation, just a notification about what went wrong with the system.

But if you have a system with active ProSupport or even higher level of support contract it should generate a case with our tech support.

If you want, I can check a bit further but I need the ServiceTag of the system where the issue occurred. Please send the Tag to me via Private Message.

Thanks
Stefan

Hi Stefan. i'm fairly sure it's in ProSupport. I'll PM you the service tag.

Thanks Stefan. I suspect they were pre-existing faults since we recently re-installed the SA. I suspect next time a fault occurs it will log it automatically.
