Monitoring Dell Networking S52xxx-ON Switch running OS10 enterprise
Wondering if SCG can monitor these S52xx series switches?
I have it about 95% working but it shows "monitoring capability" is not enabled.
"We cannot monitor this device with it is current configuration. Update your configuration on the device to allow monitoring, then try again."
Error Code : SAE-020087
"with it is" ?
Anyhow, I tried setting SNMP trap manually on the switches, I tried using the snmp community name I created, I tried with generic "public", I tried by explicitly listing the event categories. I tried doing a rediscovery after each change but it still shows no monitoring capability
"snmp-server host IPOFSCG traps version 1 scgsnmp"
OR "snmp-server host IPOFSCG traps version 1 public"
OR "snmp-server host IPOFSCG traps version 1 scgsnmp entity envmon snmp"
OR "snmp-server host IPOFSCG traps version 1 public entity envmon snmp"

Hello @Factor Forms,
When you said 95% working, does that mean you have manage to setup SCG 95% or the switch is working 95% of configuration?
What SCG version are you using, virtual or application?
What/when was the configuration step that you did to have that error?
For S52XX switch, the required firmware minimum is 10.5.2 and the collection protocol is SSH2. I think SNMP won't work. https://dell.to/3lGWE6h

You likely did not look at the screenshot on my post, The switch version is clearly visible. SSH2 is the collection protocol, that's how I got it that far and when you add the device it clearly says "Enable monitoring (this may require additional SNMP settings)" on the device add screen.
You linked to a support matrix with no instructions, and no more information on the error or how to solve it.
SNMP is used when it set up monitoring on idrac. It is reasonable to think it would use it here. The add device screen seems to point to that.
The error message is very poor, but it at least says "Update your configuration on the device to allow monitoring" which leads me to believe I have to do something on the switch to allow monitoring, and if it used SNMP on idrac it would be reasonable to assume that it would use it on other devices too.
I will add another screenshot to this post of the screen when adding a new networking device so you can see it.
Thank you for your reply, but it was not helpful.

Hello @Factor Forms,
Apologies that the picture was missed out, the picture wasn't loaded at my side hence the my reply was slightly different approach.
Would you mind PM me your SCG SWID (the information is located at About) and the switch service tag, I'll try to reach out to the SCG support to check if we're able to help you through community.

Hi Factor Forms,
Thank you for sending the Service Tag and other information to Joey. Joey is currently unavailable, but we received some information from our Secure Connect Gateway specialists, which I’d like to share with you.
That error you are seeing is likely to be caused by two things:
We also checked that your particular device is successfully talking to Dell EMC servers (so far no alerts reported, which is a good thing).
Let us know if you have any further questions.
Regards Martin

Same problem here. Received this mail today:
Error code
SAE-020087
Error message
This gateway does not support automatic SNMP configuration for this device type, we can support monitoring if its manually configured on the device. Refer to section "Configuring SNMP settings" of the secure connect gateway user guide for instructions on updating your config.
I have SNMP trap configured as manual instructed. Not Working..
I as see.. no solution yet?
