has anybody experience with backing up SAP HANA databases through networker?

Hi christoph,

many thanks for the information.

I have some DataDomains to backup to. So you mean just change the data and log backup destination to a DataDomain NFS-Share?

What is "backint" exactly? I barely know it from BR*Tools backup were it just sets the database into backup mode and starts a filesystem backup.

I would like to track the update but unfortunately I need a login to that link.

The current version of HANA supports only file backup. This means the backup is started out of the HANA Studio (SAP Administration and Data Modeling Front End) towards a file system location. SAP recommends (for good reason) to back to a NFS target. EMC's Data Domain is ideally used as a target in this case.

Since SPS 5 SAP has introduced "Backint" for HANA, which allows to call an external backup tool like Networker directly. However, this function needs to be certified before it is supported. Last time I checked SAP had not certified any external backup tool for backint yet.

You can track any updates on this function via SAP Note 1730932 - Using backup tools with Backint for HANA

JayJay,

Answer to your first question - yes. See attached picture

Answer to your second question - BACKINT (backup interface) is SAP's interface program that connect between 3rd party backup software and SAP BRBACKUP to backup your SAP server data.
