Firstly, as of this writing, RHEL 5.7 is not supported with Replication Manager. You should be validating your environment first via the EMC E-Lab Interoperability Navigator from PowerLink. Direct link is as follows:
https://elabnavigator.emc.com/do/navigator.jsp
I recommend selecting the "Software Support Wizard" from the "Wizard" tab and fill in the environmental data as requested (version of RM and Operating System).
However, having said that and with the official support statement out of the way, let us talk about how you would proceed with the install if the OS was on the list. Of course, if you proceed, support would be a "best effort" if there happen to undocumented issues related to RHEL 5.7. Our E-Lab team could be reviewing it as we speak, and might have it queued up for a future release in the support matrix.
QUESTIONS:
=========
1) Could you provide more information on how you are attempting to install it?
2) What are the errors you are receiving (if any)?
3) A little known fact is that if you have a desktop manager running, the install script will initiate a graphical install wizard or you can of course install entirely via CLI. Which is the method you are attempting?
SOME RANDOM THOUGHTS:
======================
1) Also, a common mistake is to use a Windows utility to untar the file and then copy it to the Red Hat host. You should perform everything within a Linux environment via the native utilities due to the differing ways it handles CR and LF's.
2) The install script should be run as root user.
3) Also, if there is an RM service pack, Unix/Linux (not Windows) RM Agent requires first that the base is installed and then the SP. Since there is not yet a SP for RM 5.4, this would only be relevant if you are trying to install 5.3 SP4 for instance; this would require installing 5.3.0 first then 5.3.3. Keep in mind, when an SP is released for RM 5.4, it is likely this same two step process will be required for Unix/Linus hosts since it has been that way for years now.
