RM and Flare Upgrade

My Environment
- CX-700 running Flare 2.19
- RM 4.0.0.7
- Cloning SQL 2005 LUNs
- Windows Server 2003 x64 R2 SP2 (Std & Ent)
- Windows Server 2003 Enterprise R2 SP2

My Situation
- I need to upgrade Flare code on CX-700
- Everything is currently working great in RM, but took a long time to get it there

My Question
- Do I have to upgrade RM if I upgrade Flare code?
- If so, what version combination is most stable? (e.g. Flare 2.24 and RM 5.1)
- Any feedback, good, bad or indifferent is appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Joe
Welcome to the support forums!

No, you dont not have to do a major upgrade to RM if you are going to Flare 24. Flare, 26 - yes - you need to go to RM 5.1 SP2, but its a cx700, so Fl24 is the limit.

BUT - if you are going to upgrade Flare to Fl24 and stay on RM 4.0.0.7, then you MUST upgrade all hosts to Solutions Enabler 6.3.2.20 and add the SE and Navi paths to the system environment variables. Please read EMC KB emc151261 very carefully.

To that note, I think this would be a great opportunity for you to upgrade to RM 5.1 SP2, maybe even wait a few days and RM 5.1 SP3 will be available. RM 4.x will be EOSL soon, so its a wise move.

RM 5.1.2 on Flare24 has been very stable - no known reported major issues.

I hope this helps you. Any Q's please feel free - its what the forums are all about :-)

James.

James/Joe,

One small correction if I may, CX700 is capable of running FLARE 26. The latest patch is 02.26.700.5.014. Please see at least emc190157 / emc190031 for some known issues with the upgrade to that patch. Btw - FLARE 26 will be the final/EOL release for the 2nd generation CX - Series (CX3/5/700)

I hope this helps
Carl
