Replication Manager

Folks,

We are using timefinder mirror BCV with Replication manager to replicate copies of production host on symmetrix array. The production LUN is an R1 LUN. There are 3 BCV copies of this R1 production LUN maintained by replication manager. Each BCV copy is presented to a host.  I need to add storage to host, so i created new R1 LUNs and presented to host. Now i need to create 3 BCV copies of this R1 LUN and add it to replication manager.

i) What is the procedure to do this via Replication manager GUI?.

ii) After creating the 3 BCVs, do i need to first present the BCVs to hosts and then add them in replication manager or first add BCVs in replication manager and then present to hosts?. I heard there is some locking mechanism and one of the above order must be followed.

iii) should i sync and split the bcv before adding to replication manager?. If yes, at what step in step ii should i do this?

Thank you for your help.

As you need to present the devices to host you can map and mask the bcv's and add them to RM console.

ii) once done right click on the symmetrix under storage services in RM and try add storage . this will end up showing the all devices including newely added ones. select them and click finish.this process will make the devices Not ready. so make sure you select only the bcv devices.

iii) Not required RM can manage it.
