New Install of EMC AutoStart v5.4.0
I am installing a new AutoStart v5.4.0 Exchange server pair in my
existing Exchange 2003 organization. We are currently running AutoStart
v5.3.1 on our other AutoStart pairs. We used shared disks. We are
having problems running the Exchprep.exe. The account we are using has
all permissions required except for Schema Administrator. Is this
causing the failure or do we need to check something else. We also
don't know what it is changing in the schema.
Thanks,
Karen Breach

Hi,
You should use the AutoStart5.4.2.
It is because various bugs lurk in 5.4.0.
Please confirm reproduce in 5.4.2.

We are running Windows Standard 2003 SP2 and did not think we could use a higher version. Please confirm.
Thanks,

Hi,
Please see the release notes for each version.
You should read the column of Fixed Problem.
We are a distributor in Japan.
Version 5.4.0 has several problems.
We reported several bugs.
In Japan, this version was prohibited.
The recommended version is 5.4.2.

What type of bugs are you referring to as we are rebuilding from v5.3.1 and are moving to v5.40 until we move this summer to Exchange 2010?

The Exchange 2003 module is only supported on Microsoft Windows 2003 x86. If the cluster nodes are running Microsoft Windows 2003 (non-R2), then the newest version that may be installed is AutoStart 5.4.0 with the cumulative hot fix. If the cluster nodes are running Microsoft Windows 2003 R2, then the newest version that may be installed is AutoStart 5.4.1 with the cumulative hot fix. AutoStart 5.4.2 no longer supports Windows 2003.
The AutoStart 5.4.0 and 5.4.1 binaries are available for download on the EMC Powerlink website. The newest AutoStart cumulative hot fixes are available by request via an EMC Service Request.
