Mirrorview Restore from Clone from secondary Mirror
Hello,
What are the basic steps to restore a clone from a MV/Secondary through Replication Manager. (In the documentation it says "it is beyond the scope of this document...")
Thx in advance.

Glad you asked. It was part of testing we do in TCE proven solutions.
You can find the Proven solutions landing page to all documentation here;
powerlink.emc.com
Home > Solutions > Application Solutions > Microsoft > Exchange 2007
The following must be performed in sequence:
1. Promote the MirrorView/S target LUNs, or consistency group, as
primary.
2. Fracture the MirrorView/S links.
3. Restore (reverse sync) the remote clones to the MirrorView/S target DR
LUNs.
4. Re-synchronize the MirrorView/S links while the MirrorView/S target
DR LUNs are still primary.
5. When the synchronization completes and the MirrorView source and
target LUNs are in the "Sync" condition, promote the (original)
production LUNs, or consistency group, as primary again.
6. Re-start production operations on the primary LUNs once again on the
local site.
Considerations for remote snaps and clones of MirrorView/S LUN when using
Replication Manager
Note: Replication Manager does not control/manipulate the MirrorView link.
Considerations
¿ The MirrorView session(s) must be ¿synchronized¿.
¿ The MirrorView/S session(s) must have only one secondary image.
¿ The production host must have IP connectivity to the remote CLARiiON
array.
¿ The production Exchange resources must be online.
¿ At least one Replication Manager client must have Fibre Channel
connectivity to the remote CLARiiON array.
¿ The restore of the local or remote clones is a manual process.
Hope this helps
James.

Thanks for your answer.
My heart sank into the boots as I read "The restore of the local or remote clones is a manual process"... I was afraid that it would not work for the remote clones, but also for the local clones? (my nightmare is coming to truth as I just implemented this configuration the last two weeks and I'm going to test this week)
When I want to recover a clone from a sql database is it anyway possible to replay the logs? (the manual process only give me access to the plain db files...!?)
Thx and BR

I misunderstood your answer.
The recovery mechanism of RM are fully functional I only have to fracture the mirror for the local clones and for the remote clones i have to "switch" the primaries of the sqldb to the other location....right?
So for local replication I already tested fine.
Thx.
