ISC job setup questions

All,

I got a SQL ISC job (directly from source to replica) setup what I feel is correctly and it does also finish successfully but nevertheless would have 2 questions relating to the RM v5 job:

1. Why does the job history tell me ¿Cluster: False¿ when in fact the source is a 3 node Windows 2003 Cluster? We are using the SQL instance (virtual name) as the client name in RM. The only thing I have managed to dig out is an old KB article 74479RM, Replication Manager Incorrectly Identifies Clustered Databases as Standalone in Application Sets, but relating to RM v3. Any help would be much appreciated!

2. Same ISC job. Why doesn¿t ISC allow you to specify a consistent split under Advanced > General Replication Options? SnapView snaps, clones and Full SANCopy do allow consistent splits! Again hints would be much appreciated!

Thanks & regards
Carl

Hi Calle
With regard to point 1)...
My folks in eng tell me that as I previously thought, the issue is indeed purely cosmetic.

It shall be fixed in a latter version of RM. Please ignore for now.

Thanks - James.

Hi Calle

1. I believe the cluster: no is purely cosmetic - but I will check it out for you.

2. We dont have a consistent split option for ISC because of the nature of the clariion commands required. During the VSS split, IRCCD spawns a thread for each lun which requires its own ISC Navi command to perform the mark and those commands return from the clariion in any order, but not at the same time, so the "split" is not consistent across all luns.

Hope this helps
James.
